As a leading Master Systems Integrator (MSI), OTI specializes in optimizing building performance by integrating multiple technologies. To demonstrate the efficiency of its solutions, OTI implemented Smartwatt’s AI-driven energy optimization system in its own office. This integration led to improved indoor climate control, enhanced occupant comfort, and significant energy savings.

A Climate Conundrum: The Problem at Hand

OTI faced persistent issues with inconsistent indoor temperatures. Different zones within the office experienced drastic fluctuations—some areas were too warm, while others were too cold. The root cause was the lack of synchronization between two separate Air Handling Units (AHUs) managing heating and cooling. These systems operated independently, leading to inefficiencies and discomfort. Additionally, misaligned commands to the Variable Air Volume (VAV) dampers caused uncoordinated airflow distribution, further exacerbating the issue.


AI to the Rescue: The Smartwatt Solution

To address these challenges, OTI deployed a combination of Smartwatt’s AI-powered optimization and Novant’s data integration platform:

  • Precision Climate Control with Smart Sensors: OTI installed Programmable VAV Controllers and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) Sensors, providing real-time monitoring and precise climate adjustments.

  • Seamless Data Integration via Novant: Climate data from IAQ sensors and VAV controllers was structured through Novant’s platform, enabling efficient processing and communication with Smartwatt.

  • AI-Powered HVAC Optimization: Smartwatt accessed Novant’s API to analyze real-time environmental data and send optimized control commands back to the HVAC system.

With this intelligent automation, heating and cooling operations became dynamic and demand-driven. Smartwatt’s AI continuously adjusted ventilation, heating, and cooling settings to maintain a stable indoor climate while minimizing energy waste.
